I. COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course is given in seminar
form, by arrangement with the course director. Radiographs of current
and past patients are discussed, with a view to reaching a differential
interpretation of the problem. Specific diseases and problems are assigned
as topics to be discussed at selected sessions. The various imaging
methods of investigation are discussed as appropriate.
II. SYNOPSIS OF GOALS
The student will be able
to approach diagnostic radiologic problems logically and systematically,
in order to recognize the problem(s) and establish a differential interpretation
and subsequent appropriate course of action.
III. COURSE OUTLINE
Selected current and past
cases are presented, weekly. Specific assigned topics will be discussed.

IV. METHODOLOGY
The appropriate medical/dental
literature will be reviewed as needed.
V. PRE-REQUISITES AND/OR
CO-REQUISITES
A. Pre-requisites
Arrangement with and approval
of the Course Director.
B. Co-requisites
Enrollment in a graduate
or specialty level program of study in dentistry or medicine.
VI. BEHAVIORAL OBJECTIVES
The student will be able
to

search the literature
for relevant information pertaining to any specific diagnostic problem
that may arise as a result of a diagnostic imaging investigation
of a patient.

evaluate the validity
of relevant dental or medical literature.
|
|
|
utilize the didactic and
practical information gained from previous cases or the literature
in reaching an appropriate differential interpretation and recommendations
for action in specific patient related cases that occur in the seminars
or clinical radiologic conferences (C.R.C.s).

VII. MEASUREMENT AND EVALUATION
The student will be evaluated
on an ongoing basis to determine if (s)he is progressing in his/her
ability to meet the behavioral objectives. In the event that doubt exists,
passing a formal oral and/or written examination will be required.
